President Hamid Karzai said on Friday the Afghan government would welcome any offer by Turkey to facilitate talks with the Taliban that could help bring an end to the conflict in his homeland.
Speaking in Istanbul at the end of a trilateral summit between Turkey, Afghaninstan and Pakistan, Karzai said "dignitaries" close to the Taliban had suggested Turkey could become a venue for talks if the Taliban were allowed to establish some kind of representation there. (Reuters)
