J'lem legal council: Mayor can't delay Beit Yehonatan eviction

The Jerusalem Municipality's legal council, attorney Yossi Habilio, claimed that the city's mayor, Nir Barkat, is not authorized to delay the implementation of the court order to seal Beit Yehonatan, a Jewish residential building in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.

Barkat's office has postponed the implementation of the warrant in a compromise with the Ateret Cohanim foundation, which in return withdrew its demand to evict the Arab residents of the Abu Nab building, also in Silwan. (Ronen Medzini)
