The Mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Huldai criticized the government during a city council meeting to approve the 2011 budget on Monday. "The state schools, the foreign workers and infiltrators, the water economy, the emergency and firefighting units – these are all issues the Israeli government doesn't take proper and systemic care of," he said.
Huldai quoted the seventh Mayor of Tel Aviv Shlomo Lahat who had said over thirty years ago that "Israeli governments are wrongly mistaken that foreign matters are important and urgent, whereas internal issues are secondary and can be postponed." He added: "These things are true today as well, even more so." (Yoav Zitun)
