UN says crowd attacked peacekeepers in Ivory Coast

A United Nations peacekeeper in Ivory Coast was wounded in an attack on a convoy in the Abidjan neighbourhood of Yopougon on Tuesday, the UN said in a statement.

"A large crowd encircled the convoy, wounding one soldier with a machete and burning one of the three vehicles," the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI) said. The convoy was transporting 22 peacekeepers from the interior of the country through Yopougon. (Reuters)
