State prosecutor talks Katsav verdict: An honor badge to Israeli society

State Prosecutor Moshe Lador talked about the conviction of former President Moshe Katsav during a press conference on Thursday, saying: "Aside from the sadness and shame, this is a day of spiritual elevation and an honor badge to Israeli society, to the judicial system, and to all the law enforcement systems and the prosecution. It's a tough day for the State of Israel, but we can be comforted by the fact that this process proved everyone is equal in the eyes of the law in practice."

The Tel Aviv District Court on Thursday convicted former President Moshe Katsav on two counts of rape of the complainant A from the Tourism Ministry. In their verdict the judges led by Judge George Kara, determined that Katsav lied when he claimed that the sexual relations were consensual. (Aviad Glickman)
