PA: Chile, Uruguay to recognize Palestinian state

The Palestinian Authority announced that Chile and Uruguay intend to declare recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders. According to Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, Chile is expected to make the announcement in the upcoming weeks, and Chilean President Sebastián Piñera is expected to visit the Palestinian territories in the next three months.

PA officials reported that Paraguay is preparing to the step in the coming weeks as well, and that a Palestinian embassy is expected to open in Ecuador. (Roee Nahmias)
