Chavez defends economic measures in Venezuela
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday defended his economic measures against criticism by opponents who say a tax increase and a devaluation will hurt the poor.
Writing in his weekly column, Chavez accused opponents of lying about his government's economic policies to "generate confusion." His government last week announced it was eliminating a two-tiered exchange rate and going back to a single, government-set rate. (AP)
