MKs approve IDF soldiers' continued service in police, prison service

The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee has approved the continued service of IDF soldiers in public systems outside the army, such as the police, prison service, education, health and immigration absorption. Some MKs have recently objected to the "general use" of IDF soldiers, but others pointed out the cost difference between soldiers and civilians – while IDF soldiers get paid approximately NIS 400 a month, minimum monthly wages for civilians are about NIS 4,000.
