Dances with Jews

(Video) Hundreds of participants from 30 cities around globe take part in Bnei Akiva youth movement video clip in honor of movement's 12th international convention

VIDEO - Hundreds of kids and teens, members of Bnei Akiva, the largest religious Zionist youth movement in the world, took part in an upbeat music video, dancing to an Oif Simchas version of 'Am Yisrael Chai' (The People of Israel Live). The special clip was created in honor of the movement's 12th international convention, which is set to open on Wednesday in Jerusalem.

The music video was filmed at over 30 cities around the globe with participants including Bnei Akiva members and envoys from its branches in Johannesburg, Perth, Beverley Hills, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Zurich, Wellington and many others. The video's motto was 'Ve'shavu banim le'gvulam' – 'and thy sons shall return to their borders'.

"Bnei akiva members from the movement's branches around the globe feel that in spite of their arduous efforts on the issue of aliyah and their work in bringing people colder to Judaism, they often feel that the movement doesn't get enough credit in Israeli consciousness," explains Zvika Klein, the movement's spokesman and editor of the music video, which was produced especially for YouTube.

"We wanted to show the massive influence the movement has in the Jewish world, and do so with pride."

Bnei Akiva's international convention is held every four years. This year the theme of the convention is 'An Envoy of the State' – a salute to Bnei Akiva's envoys past and present. Israel's President Shimon Peres is set to take part in the event.

Around 150 delegates, teens and students from 23 countries around the world who hold key positions in the movement's local branches will be coming to Israel for the convention. Bnei Akiva Secretary General Zeev Schwartz said that "the Bnei Akiva envoys aren’t just great dancers; they are ready and willing for any educational challenge standing on our path to the next generation."
