Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan called on the chairman of Haifa Chemicals Ltd. to take a personal stand against the company management's refusal to finance a part of the program that aims to clean up the Kishon River. In his letter Erdan notes that the factory is to blame for a large part of the pollution and the destruction of ecological systems that the river had suffered over the years.
"The company's refusal to pay its part in the cleanup delays and endangers the rehabilitation of the river," Erdan wrote. Experts estimate that 80% of the damage was caused by the company's factories in the '90s. (Yael Darel)
