Canadian sentenced for perjury in terrorism case

The only person convicted in the 1985 Air India bombing that killed 329 people off the coast of Ireland was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday for perjury in his testimony at the trial of two men acquitted in the attacks.

The British Columbia Supreme Court gave Inderjit Singh Reyat credit for 17 months of time spent in pre-trial custody. He will serve just over seven years for lying under oath during his testimony in the trial of his alleged co-conspirators who were acquitted of first-degree murder in 2005. (AP)
