Doctor: US Rep. Giffords is responsive after shooting

US congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who was shot in the head is able to communicate and follow simple commands, a doctor said on Sunday.

"We are very encouraged by that," Dr. Michael Lemole, Jr., a neurosurgeon, said. "I am cautiously optimistic." (Reuters)
