France's defense minister said there is "little doubt" that al-Qaeda was behind the kidnapping of two Frenchmen in the west African nation of Niger, both found dead after an attempt to rescue them by French troops.
Alain Juppe also said there is no "formal proof" that the two 25-year-old friends were killed by their captors though he added "everything leads us to believe" that the kidnappers executed their hostages. They had been kidnapped in a restaurant in the Niger capital of Niamey on Friday. (AP)
