Bill prohibiting publication of victims' photos passes preliminary reading

The Knesset plenum passed in a preliminary reading Tuesday a bill that prohibits the publication of pictures that show fatalities or people injured in disasters. Fifteen members of Knesset voted in favor of the bill proposed by Uri Maklev and Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism), while only MK Shelly Yachimovich (Labor) opposed.

The bill is designed to prevent media outlets from publishing pictures of victims, including live or taped broadcast and photographs from the scene of a terror attack, traffic accident, hospitals, disaster etc'. (Roni Sofer)
