Barak to press: Today we are gaining independence

Retiring Labor Chairman Ehud Barak on Monday announced his split from the Labor party along with four other faction members, during a press conference in Jerusalem.
"Today, we are gaining independence. We are establishing a faction, a movement, and later on a party that will be central, Zionist and democratic. Its motto will be: 'Whatever is right for the State of Israel.'" (Roni Sofer and Attila Somfalvi)
