Hamas: Breakthrough possible in Shalit talks
Gerhard Konrad, the German mediator working to secure the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, visited Gaza recently and suggested "new ideas" which may lead to a breakthrough in the talks between Israel and Hamas, a senior Palestinian group member told the London-based al-Hayat newspaper.
The man refused to provide additional details, saying that "Hamas is looking into the German mediator's efforts". He asked the families of the Palestinian prisoners to lower their expectations, however. (Elior Levy)
