PA official: Russia to recognize Palestinian state

Nabil Shaath, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' senior advisor, told the London-based al-Hayat newspaper that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev plans to announce his recognition of an independent Palestinian state during his visit to Ramallah on Tuesday.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the report. "Had there been such a move, it would have happened in the past few weeks, and the Foreign Ministry has received no such information," a ministry source said. (Elior Levy and Ronen Medzini)
