Turkel Committee: We're not an inquiry commission

The Turkel Committee, in charge of authorizing appointments to public service, responded to criticism against them regarding the appointment of Yoav Galant to new IDF chief of staff, claiming: "We are not an inquiry commission."

In a written statement they said: "The committee's job is to ensure the integrity of candidates. It is not an inquiry committee and it lacks the means needed for an investigation." In addition it stated that the committee did in fact examine all material brought before them but added that "if new information was discovered after the committee's opinion was submitted –  they could not address it."
