Report: PA agreed on Israeli rule of Old City's Jewish, Armenian quarters
A document published by Al Jazeera revealed that chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told US Special Envoy for Middle East Peace George Mitchell in October 2009 that the PA would agree to a permanent arrangement in which the Jewish Quarter and a part of the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem's Old City would be under Israeli rule. According to the report, Erekat said that the rest of the Old City would be under Palestinian rule. He proposed that authority over the Temple Mount region should be shared. (Elior Levy)
