The attorneys of Brigadier-General Imad Fares claimed that IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi threatened to widen the scope of the investigation against their client should he refuse to retire.
During a court hearing regarding the army officer's dismissal from the IDF at the Tel Aviv District Court one of Fares's attorneys said, "Ashkenazi said they will check all the gas stations in the area in order to take out Fares's skeletons out of the close." Judge Kobi Vardi ordered the IDF to hand over all transcripts of Ashkenazi and Fares's conversations to the court. (Naama Cohen-Friedman)
