Peruvian president refuses Dan Cohen extradition request
The State Prosecution's international department has discovered that Peruvian President Alan Garcia decided to deny Israel's extradition request in the case of former Judge Dan Cohen who has been accused of severe offenses. This is in spite of the fact that the Peruvian Supreme Court had already accepted Israel's request.
For the extradition to be valid it needs to receive the president's approval but he Garcia decided to overturn the court's decision. Cohen is accused of taking an NIS 16 million (about $ 4.3 million) bribe while serving as a director in the Israel Electric Corporation. (Aviad Glickman)
