Soldier who shot bound Palestinian to be demoted

The Tel Aviv military court has decided not impose a prison sentence on the soldier who shot a bound Palestinian in Naalian. They noted that SSgt. Leonardo Corea did not seek "to abuse the complainant, has suffered a criminal record and therefore will not be sentenced to a prison term or military works." Nevertheless, it was decided he be demoted to private.

Earlier on Wednesday the court ruled that Corea's commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Omri Borberg, will not be demoted. However, it was also decided that his promotion will be delayed for two years. (Hanan Greenberg)
