TV: Egypt parl't speaker says 'important' news soon

Egypt's parliament speaker told an Egyptian satellite channel on Friday that "an important matter will be announced in a short time", commenting after a day of protests calling for President Hosni Mubarak to step down.

Speaker Fathi Sorour was speaking by telephone to Mehwar channel. He did not give further details. (Reuters)
