Protesters clash with police in Egypt's Alexandria

Thousands of protesters clashed with police in the northern Egyptian city of Alexandria on Saturday despite a call by the army not to congregate after days of anti-government protests.

A Reuters witness said the police used teargas and live ammunition against the demonstrators demanding an end to President Hosni Mubarak's rule. He said the death toll in the city since Friday had reached 20. (Reuters)
