US, Egyptian defense chiefs speak

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates spoke with his Egyptian counterpart this weekend about the country's unrest, the Pentagon said on Sunday, declining to provide details on their conversation.

The Pentagon said Gates spoke with Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, as well as Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak. (Reuters)
