Protesters gather outside Egypt embassy in Turkey

Around one hundred protesters, heavily outnumbered by riot police, have demonstrated outside the Egyptian Embassy in Ankara, declaring solidarity with protests in Egypt. The protesters - mostly members of Turkish Islamic groups - shouted slogans late Sunday outside the embassy in the capital denouncing Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Protesters chanted "Pharaoh Hosni get out of Egypt," and "We're shoulder to shoulder against oppression" as hundreds of riot police stood by. They also recited verses from the Muslim holy book, the Quran, before dispersing peacefully. The Anatolia news agency reported a similar protest was held outside the Egyptian Consulate in Istanbul.
