Fischer: Israeli economy strong enough to handle Egypt events

Governor of the Bank of Israel, Stanley Fischer said Monday that the Israeli economy is strong enough to face security threats from Iran and recent events in Egypt and Lebanon.

Speaking at a conference organized by the Institution for National Security Studies Fischer said: "It is significant that we have a strong and flexible economy. In the five years since my arrival we have managed to face various shocks – from Ariel Sharon's illness, Hamas's election victory, the Second Lebanon War and the global economic crisis from which we emerged relatively unscathed."
