The leader of Jordan's powerful Islamist opposition says its protests are not like the turmoil in Egypt and that the Jordanian protesters who take to the streets are not seeking King Abdullah's ouster. Hamza Mansour, the head of the Islamic Action Front, says Jordan's largest opposition group doesn't want regime change but will keep fighting for democratic reforms.
"Jordan is not Egypt," He said on Tuesday. Mansour claimed that the Islamists want Prime Minister Samir Rifai to step down and are seeking amendments to a controversial election law. He said Jordanians should have the right to elect prime ministers and Cabinet members. Those posts are appointed by the king. (AP)
