Ministers continue effort to extend Ashkenazi's term

Senior government officials are continuing their efforts to convince Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reject Defense Minister Ehud Barak's proposal to appoint Major General Yair Naveh as temporary IDF chief of staff.

The Senior ministers have been trying to convince Netanyahu to submit a proposal that would extend outgoing IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi's term. "Some actions were taken, so far without success, but a lot can happen before Sunday," one minister told Ynet. (Attila Somfalvi)
