Shas: Extend Ashkenazi's tenure if Gantz fails Turkel Committee
Interior Minister Eli Yishai said on Saturday that Shas will back the decision to appoint Major-General Benny Gantz as Israel's 20th chief of staff only after its approval by the Turkel Committee.
Shas officials said that if Gantz will fail the Turkel Committee's inquiry, they will request to extend the tenure of current IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi. "The IDF's stability these days is above all else," said Yishai. (Attila Somfalvi)
