Ayalon: US realizes Egypt change must come through Mubarak
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon addressed the change in US policy towards Egypt and said: "In light of the composure and responsibility shown by the Mubarak government during the past few critical weeks, the US government realized that any regime change in Egypt must come through Mubarak." Ayalon made his statements at the Herzliya Conference.
Earlier it was reported that Washington was making efforts to keep Mubarak in office as a figurehead president in order to delay constitutional reform. (Ronen Medzini)
