The Knesset House Committee has approved a bill proposing to deny Knesset members who broke the law of various payments. The bill will prevent former Balad Chairman Azmi Bishara from receiving pension fees and other benefits. Eight committee members voted in favor of the bill and only one MK – Chaim Oron of Meretz – opposed.
During the debate, senior assistant to the attorney general Raz Nezri said that Bishara is regarded as a suspect who failed to report to questioning. The bill will now face second and third readings. (Roni Sofer)
