Lieberman to Spanish FM: Israel is an island of democracy
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman met with Spanish Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez in Jerusalem on Tuesday and said: "The recent events in the Middle East prove that Israel is an island of democracy and stability in the area. It is the only country that has true common values with Europe and the United States and is an integral part of the West." According to Lieberman, "this is why countries like Iran wish to wipe us off the Middle East map."
He expressed his sadness over the "welcoming" of the Spanish FM in Hebron on Tuesday, where she was called "anti-Semetic", "Jew hater" and a "villain" by rightist activists. (Attila Somfalvi)
