Italy prosecutors seek immediate trial for Berlusconi

Milan prosecutors have requested an immediate trial for Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on charges of paying for sex with an underage girl and abuse of office, the prosecutors' office said in a statement on Wednesday.

A judge will have around five days to decide on the request, which is likely to add to pressure on the 74-year-old premier and his struggling centre-right government. (Reuters)
