Haifa chief rabbi suspected of bribery

Haifa's Chief Rabbi She'ar Yishuv Cohen was summoned to a state prosecution hearing in the Jerusalem district over suspected acts of bribery and false registration on corporation documents.

Cohen was previously interrogated over the 'Rabbi Affair' in which senior rabbis were suspected of giving out false rabbinate certificates to security forces personnel. The case was closed following Rabbi Cohen's statement that he would resign and would no longer serve in public offices. After he failed to carry out his declaration, the prosecutor's office decided to indict the rabbi pending a hearing. (Aviad Glickman)
