Egypt's Central Bank is auctioning 3.5 billion Egyptian pounds in Treasury bills, its second such offering in days as the government scrambles to raise money following more than two weeks of anti-government protests.
The roughly $590 million offering of six months bills on Thursday comes just days after the bank sold 13 billion Egyptian pounds in T-bills, mainly to local investors. The government is trying to raise money after it promised a 15 billion Egyptian pound boost in wages and pensions for public sector employees. (AP)
