BBC: Egypt PM says Mubarak may step down

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq told Britain's BBC that President Hosni Mubarak may step down and the situation in the country will be clarified soon, the British broadcaster said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian army commander, Hassan al-Roweny, told protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Thursday that "Everything you want will be realized", a Reuters witness said. Without citing a source, CNN television said President Hosni Mubarak would transfer his power as army chief to the army. (News Agencies)
