Palestinian prisoners' families to UN: Pressure Israel to ensure their rights

Families of Palestinian prisoners in Israel called the High United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to pressure the Israeli government to respect the detainees' rights.

In a memorandum submitted to Pillay, representatives of the families have asked her to "take necessary measures to ensure the protection of human rights and institute a monitoring mechanism to ensure that the Israeli government respects these rights." (AFP)
