Pakistan confident US, Afghan talks will continue

A Pakistani government spokesman says a standoff with the Washington over a jailed US Embassy worker will not thwart talks between the two countries and Afghanistan.

Tensions have been rising between the US and Pakistan over the detention of American Raymond Davis for killing two Pakistani men he says were trying to rob him. The US said Saturday that it is postponing talks set for this coming week in Washington with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Pakistani and Afghan diplomats. (AP)
