Reports: UK set to revamp gay partnership laws

None

Media reports say that the British government is preparing to erase some of the last remaining distinctions between gay civil partnerships and traditional marriage.

Unsourced reports in the BBC and British newspapers say that the government's equalities minister Lynne Featherstone is preparing to propose a move which would allow gay couples to marry in religious ceremonies. Some reports have raised the possibility that such ceremonies would be formally known as "marriages." (AP)
