House Speaker John Boehner on Sunday questioned why assessments by US intelligence did not appear to be ahead of the upheaval in Egypt, although he said the Obama administration responded appropriately to the crisis.
The Republican lawmaker said the administration "handled what is a very difficult situation about as well as it could be handled." The protests in Egypt and Tunisia, which led to their long-time autocratic leaders giving up power, surprised everyone, including US intelligence officials, he said. (AP)
