The appointment ceremony of Benny Gantz as IDF chief of staff has commenced in the Prime Minister's Office. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak presented Gantz with the lieutenant-general ranks. Outgoing IDF chief Gabi Ashkenazi handed over the IDF chief authorities to Gantz.
