Clinton: Nations suppress Internet at own risk

None

US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is warning repressive states in the Arab world and elsewhere that curbs on Internet freedom will not hold back growing popular demands for reforms seen recently in Tunisia and Egypt.

In a major policy address to be delivered on Tuesday, Clinton will say there is no "app" for ending online repression but will pledge US support for cyber dissidents trying to promote democracy. She'll say that regimes that clamp down on Internet usage may be able to withstand calls for change in the short-term, but not forever. (AP)
