Security officials say former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly has been arrested pending the completion of an investigation into corruption.
El-Adly, whose job gave him control over the 500,000-strong security forces, is widely blamed for the deadly brutality used by riot police against demonstrators in massive protests that forced president Hosni Mubarak to step down on February 11. The officials said el-Adly was arrested Thursday and would remain in custody for 15 days. (AP)
