Turkey evacuates 3,000 citizens from Libya

Some 3,000 Turks boarded ferry boats in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi early on Wednesday and set off for Turkey in a mass evacuation from the violence engulfing the North African country.

The Foreign Ministry said the Orhan Gazi ferry departed Benghazi port at 3:30 am with 1,500 Turks and the Osman Gazi set off at 5:00 am with another 1,500 passengers. (Reuters)
