Interpol helps catch suspected pedophiles

Israel Police arrest thee men, including two fathers, suspected of distributing pedophilic material

The police arrested three men on Wednesday accused of downloading and distributing online pedophilic material.

The three were brought in for questioning after police received a tip from the Interpol saying that these men were regularly downloading movies showing children having sex as well as naked pictures of kids.

An investigation conducted by the Fraud Unit at the Police's Central District is underway, led by Superintendent Moshe Regev. At the time of their arrest it turned out that two of the men – a 60-year-old man from Hod HaSharon and a 47-year-old man from Ramla –are fathers, while the third is a 27-year-old bachelor from Petah Tikva. The men were detained in front of their families.

During a home search at the suspects' houses, officers confiscated computers and CDs they suspect contain pedophilic materials.

"The suspects were surprised when we showed up at their homes with a search warrant," a police official said. "Their wives and family members who were in the house were also shocked."

According to Regev these three men are citizens with no criminal record who have never been accused of a single offense, sexual or otherwise. "The three are currently under investigation. Their computers are being examined. When the inquiry ends we'll release them under limited conditions and decide how to act against them according the investigation's conclusions."
