Bangladesh, Russia sign deal for nuclear power plant

Energy-hungry Bangladesh has signed a deal with Russia to set up the country's first nuclear power plant to generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity, officials said on Friday.

Two reactors, each with a capacity of 1,000 mw, will be built at Rooppur in the northwest at a cost of around $2 billion, with completion expected by 2017/18. (Reuters)
