Qassam hits western Negev; no injuries

Blast sound heard in Eshkol Regional Council early Sunday morning. Color Red alert system fails to activate. Rocket lands in open area

A new week opens with blast sounds in the western Negev. A Qassam rocket hit the Eshkol Regional Council on Sunday. No injuries or damage were reported. The Color Red alert system was not activated for a reason yet unknown.

The past weekend has seen continued fire exchanges as the southern sector's alert level rises. On Friday, the Color Red alert was sounded in Netivot followed by explosions. Another rocket fired from the Gaza Strip apparently landed in Palestinian territory.

The Air Force attacked several targets in the Gaza Strip in response. Four Palestinians, including a baby were lightly injured. The IDF said that forces had bombed tunnels serving terrorists who infiltrate into Israel in the purpose of carrying out terrorist attacks.

Last week saw the first Grad missile hitting Beersheba in two years, raising the anxiety level in the Gaza vicinity communities.

Last Friday, security officers instructed some of the border fence communities to keep kindergarten children indoors during the day for fear of rocket fire. The rocket attack, which caused damage to several houses and vehicles, was met by extensive IDF bombings in the Gaza Strip.
