Mine removal bill heads for second, third Knesset reading

A year after a child was severely injured by a mine in the Golan Heights, the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee held a vote on the phrasing of the mine removal bill ahead of its second and third Knesset reading. The committee passed the bill unanimously and it will be brought before the Knesset plenum in two weeks time.

According to the bill, a budget of NIS 27 million ($7.47 million) will be allocated for the establishment of an authority for mine removal. Donations for mine removal will also be approved. A first attempt to fulfill the plan will be carried out in six months. (Roni Sofer)
