Egypt frees two senior Muslim Brotherhood members

Two leading members of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood were released on Wednesday after serving only part of their sentences, a security source told Reuters.

The two were the first members of the Islamist group to have been sentenced by a military court, but since the overthrow of longtime ruler Hosni Mubarak, these courts in future will have jurisdiction only over the military and police.

"The two men, Khairat al-Shater and Hassan Malik, have just been released from Torah prison," the security source said. (Reuters)
